Astrophotography with the iPhone 17 Pro
I've been traveling more minimally in recent days, and my time at Joshua Tree Park was no different. I've experimented doing long exposure night shots in the past with just my phone, but it has always been too cloudy for my liking. This time presented the perfect opportunity.
The setup
It was quite simple. Just a small tripod and my phone

With the stock camera app, you're able to turn on long exposures via "night mode", however the length of these exposures are determined by one, the light level, and two, how still your phone is.
By holding the night mode option, you can set it to max length, which is 30 seconds, assuming it's pitch black and the phone is completely stationary.
The results
Honestly, they came out way better than I thought. I even had me and my sister stand in some of the images, standing very still.

I tweaked the colors after the fact, but honestly, not bad for a small setup in my opinion.
